To preserve your A-ESQUE leather piece please condition it with a neutral nourishing leather cream. Apply with a soft, colour-free lint cloth rather than applying directly onto the leather’s surface. We recommend doing a patch test on an inconspicuous area first. Do not use protectants on metallic leathers as they will damage the foil coating. Should your leather piece get wet, allow it to dry in a normal temperature – do not put it near any heat to accelerate the process. If your leather piece gets dirty, wipe it gently with a slightly damp, soft, colour-free lint cloth.

Expectation

Considered the hallmark of quality leather, bags take on their own character with time and use; that is, creasing, subtle battle scars and a certain softness inherent to the unstructured nature of many A-ESQUE pieces. As owner of an A-ESQUE leather piece, you can influence this ageing process in accordance with your personal taste. If you prefer to embrace a classic aged-leather look, exposing your piece to sunlight regularly and embracing the slings and arrows of weather, activity and carefree use will cultivate this effect; however, if you prefer to shield your piece from ageing for as long as possible, avoid exposing it consistently to harsh light, store it in its dust bag when not in use and use a quality leather protectant. Leather naturally stretches; however, it will not contract again. To preserve the shape of your piece, please do not overfill it.

Leather Glossary

Pebbled Grain Leather hides are Italian soft pebble-grain aniline leather. Lighter colours tend to mark more easily. If you prefer to maintain your piece’s ‘freshly purchased’ appearance for as long as possible, avoid concentrated light and direct heat and contact with non-colourfast denim/garments, water, alcohol and rough surfaces.

Smooth Leather hides are Italian full-grain aniline leather. If you prefer to maintain your piece’s ‘freshly purchased’ appearance for as long as possible, avoid concentrated light and direct heat and contact with non-colourfast denim/garments, water, alcohol and rough surfaces.

Double-Faced Leathers are developed in Italy by A-ESQUE. These hides are bespoke double-faced leather with metallic or block colour facing. The leather fuses metallic or block colour backing to soft pebble-grain leather to form a single piece of leather. The metallic interior of an A-ESQUE piece will wear with time as metallic leather is more delicate. To help maintain its appearance we advise avoiding wet conditions and contact with abrasive surfaces.

Metallic Leather hides are delicate Italian lightweight metallic leather, with a luminous effect. The leather is drummed at the end of the making process so colour follows the rupture of the surface and its lamination doesn’t become vitreous. Metallic foil leather will change over time as it is more delicate; a worn and aged look is intended with wear. Loss of lustre and shine will be noticeable and scuffing may occur if the piece is well used and made to work hard. To help maintain its appearance we advise avoiding wet conditions and contact with abrasive surfaces.
