Brand Note

Established 2012 by Amanda Rettig.

A-ESQUE is a Melbourne atelier of contemporary leather pieces, made by hand. Every piece is conceived and produced at the Atelier in Melbourne, from a lean and local production model.

At the centre of the practice: direct relationships with clients and collectors, considered partnerships with brand-aligned collaborators, and a team built slowly, over time. A-ESQUE has grown organically from the start.

The A-ESQUE world — the atelier's flagship — sits on High Street, Armadale.

Amanda Rettig — founder and creative director.

Australian-born, and the creative force behind A-ESQUE. In 1996, Amanda founded Mimco — building the brand into one of the country's most defining accessories houses across twelve years, before its sale in 2007. In 2012, she began again with A-ESQUE.

A-ESQUE is defined by a rational approach to design — one that returns to traditional artisan skills, high-quality materials, and a functional aesthetic centred on the piece itself.

A practice, evolving.

Innovation, experiential activations, and considered strategy across the online and physical spaces have positioned A-ESQUE within a new conversation in design — one that places the client, and the craft, at the centre.
