Amanda Rettig is an Australian-born designer, author of one of the country’s most successful fashion stories and the formidable creative impetus behind label A-ESQUE. In 1996, Amanda founded accessories giant Mimco, and built the brand into a fashion powerhouse over twelve years prior to her move to sale in 2007. Inspired afresh, Amanda launched A-ESQUE in 2012. Her innovative practices and style have been recognized in prestigious media publications, including Vogue Living, Harper's Bazaar, and the Australian Financial Review Magazine. With a focus on timeless, handcrafted leather goods, her journey is one of innovation and transformation, earning her numerous accolades, including the Young Hero Award for Business and induction into the Australian Businesswomen's Hall of Fame.

Reflecting on this journey, Amanda recalls naming the brand after her childhood nickname, MiM. With a desire to create bags she personally wanted, Amanda convinced factories offshore to produce a small sample range, eventually launching Mimco in retail stores that appealed to her target audience.
